Under the supervision of the Director of Community Support (CS), the Employment Counsellor (EC) participates in the development of collaborations between Welcome Hall Mission and the professional and academic community. By adopting a direct collaborative approach with these actors, the Employment Counsellor contributes to the development of partnership relationships that are relevant to the various populations followed by Community Support as well as to the coherence of the strategic orientations, objectives and priorities of the Community Service. 

The Employment Counsellor contributes, through advice or by suggesting resources, to improving the proposed pathway plan1 developed by the Social Work Technician. The Employment Counsellor works with the Social Work Technician to explore companies, job offers, or training that correspond to the objectives set by the Social Work Technician. The Employment Counsellor acts in support of the Social Work Technician. The Employment Counsellor also creates and facilitates thematic workshops adapted to the needs of the participating members (depending on their immigration status), adapted to the realities/issues of the job market. 

The Employment Counsellor directly accompanies members only in their search for employment or training. He contacts the candidate by phone or email to confirm certain details related to his profile. He is the reference point to identify the needs/profiles of the users, to direct them towards external employer partners and to accompany them according to their needs. The Employment Counsellor also accompanies candidates referred by internal partners. 

He/she ensures the administrative maintenance of the employment assistance service. He/she ensures the rigorous management of the database of these candidates. He/she prepares reports, periodic assessments and any special communication.  


Job type: 

  • Full time (37,5h per week)
  • Daytime work from Monday to Friday and stable schedule


Primary Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Maintains a list of referred and successful applicants;
  • Manages the database according to new and pending applications;
  • Act as a liaison between employment partners, vocational training centers and MBA;
  • Produce monthly reports and periodic reviews;
  • Contacts the member to schedule a meeting and create their employment profile;

  • Excellent oral and written skills in both English and French
  • University degree, or equivalent work experience
  • A minimum of 3 years experience in the field of employment consulting
  • Meet customer needs by satisfying multiple profiles effectively and efficiently
  • Provide professional and courteous customer service in accordance with established procedures and MBA's image
  • Recognizes and appropriately uses the procedures and processes in place for his/her work
