Toxicomanie Intervenant

Number of positions: 2

Reporting to the intervention supervisor, the toxicomanie intervenant assesses and provides psychosocial referrals to adult and young male clients on an individual and group basis. Depending on the needs of the clientele, and in keeping with the interprofessional collaboration model in effect, the toxicomanie intervenant intervenes and case-manages the clientele in partnership with family physicians, counsellors, specialized nurse practitioners, clinical nurses, nutritionists and social workers. It assesses individuals' needs and offers them the resources and support they need to improve their quality of life, right up to the end of our assistance. It provides a referral service with other social support services, and makes the necessary arrangements and follow-ups for our various integration programs. 

  • Monday to friday, 9am to 5pm

Primary Tasks and Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

1. Welcomes and assesses the client's situation and establishes a dependency treatment plan, to help people with problems related to different types of dependency (alcohol, drugs, gambling) and responds to the client's needs according to the established Social Rehabilitation program.

2. Aims to improve clients' overall well-being by providing them with strategies for coping with the different levels of stress in their daily lives (other than through the use of addictions) and enables them to develop their own strategies according to the intervention approaches for coping with stress.

3. To provide clients with support and guidance in coping with addiction-related problems, and to reinforce client motivation to ensure positive change and develop greater confidence in their skills and abilities towards recovery and autonomy.

4. Maintain files and progress notes according to standards and procedures.

5. Communicate with customers in a way that establishes a relationship based on trust, respect and credibility, and ensures that information and training are well received and understood.

6. Meet regularly with intervention and health coordinators, is able to work under the responsibility of a clinical supervisor and ensure fluid communication with clinical supervisor.

7. Run two group workshops a week on addiction treatment and information sessions.

8. Identify needs and improvements required to implement actions aimed at achieving excellence in customer service.

9. Develop individual and group intervention tools to assist different types of clients with addiction problems.

10. Other related and administrative tasks

  • Have obtained one of the following diplomas: College-level nursing care, specialized education, social work or delinquency intervention work, and /or University diploma in School Adaptation, Criminology, Psychoeducation, Psychology, Professional Orientation, Social Work, Sexology, Nursing or Drug Addiction
  • Have obtained one of the following diplomas: Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Drug Addiction, Criminology, Psychoeducation, Psychology, School Adaptation, Guidance Counselling, Nursing, Sexology, Psychosocial Intervention or an equivalent College level training.
  • Excellent oral and written skills in French
